Watching and rating Canadian stocks since 1960.
My name is Iain Fraser and I been watching Canadian stocks for a living since 1960. I was the founder and president of the very successful Fraser Research Ltd. I also wrote the book on technical analysis for the Investment Dealers Association of Canada and the Toronto and Montreal Stock Exchanges. Included in this work was a succinctly clear and distinct explanation of the Dow Theory - which remains the most most worthwhile of all market theories!
I also wrote the Elliott Wave Theory section in The Encyclopedia of Stock Market Techniques published by Investors Intelligence in Larchmont, New York. During the 80s and part of the 90s I was the lead analyst with Midland Walwyn. I have come out of retirement and created Quantitative Analysis which combines both technical and fundamental analysis.
The following is a brief explanation of our model at Fraser Quantitative Ratings. Firstly, we decide whether the stock is growth or value. If the per share growth rate is 9 per cent or more it qualifies as a growth stock. We then evaluate the stock in terms of debt/equity ratio; P/E ratio; management; past 2-5 years earnings; next 2-5 years estimated earnings; and the yield. If the stock is a value stock we do all of the above but we add book value, and cash flow. On the technical side, we consider the chart pattern, the moving average, the relative strength, and the chart in Elliott Wave terms. The stock is then given a rating number; #1 is substantially undervalued; #2 is moderately undervalued; #3 is average; #4 is moderately overvalued; and #5 is substantialy overvalued.

Golf - I have been a member of the York Downs Golf and C.C. in Toronto since 1970. If its too cold or dark for golf, I am happiest watching football or ice-hockey.
