A repeat topick !

Our latest topick has moved up quite a bit from when it was first selected.

But so have the earnings and dividends. Our view is this stock could move up 40% in the next 15 months and still be substantially undervalued.

The Football Game

Saturday afternoon ( Oct. 22/05 ) at 3 o'clock was a thrilling moment for many Canadians.

Not very long ago Montreal did not have a team in the CFL. Then two enterprisers put up some money, moved the team to McGill  Stadium, hired Don Matthews as coach, and within a few years every game was a sellout and the Alouettes were the heroes of Montrealers.

Today they came full circle and for the game against the Toronto Argonauts they had to go back to the Olympic Stadium to accomodate the crowd of 50,000 fans. And  a really great touch was to have the Montreal Symphony Orchestra at the Stadium to play a very inspirational arrangement of our National Anthem.

Vive Montreal !

More Bad News For Oil Stocks!

In our current Report we say: "Many of the Canadian oil stocks have distribution patterns and have broken down."

We also show the rather miserable looking charts for Imperial Oil; Suncor; Talisman; and Encana.

Two odd realities at The National Art Gallery-London, England

The first is entering one of the most famous galleries in the world. From Trafalgar Square we walked up the steps, pushed open a very ordinary glass door and we were in; no charge and minimal visible security. We just walked up to  the second floor and there were the original paintings of Gainsborough, Constable, and Turner.

The second oddity is that the prints of these painters are better than the originals in the Gallery. The reason is that to preserve the originals there is allowed only limited light and that is from a fairly narrow skylight. The sky is not blue in Constable's scene of fields and trees.

The Dow Theory

In our view, the oldest theory on the stock market, the Dow Theory, is easily still the best theory and as far as we know has the longest and best record at identifying the Primary trend. To be successful, the investor almost has to be in step with the Primary trend.

We wrote the book on the Dow Theory for the Canadian Securities Institute (the educational arm of the TSE; MSE; VSE etc.)

In our Report of  Sept. 28/05 we indicate where the TSE is today in Dow Theory terms. If you would like to read our comments just email us at fraserratings@yahoo.ca
