The Football Game
Saturday afternoon ( Oct. 22/05 ) at 3 o'clock was a thrilling moment for many Canadians.
Not very long ago Montreal did not have a team in the CFL. Then two enterprisers put up some money, moved the team to McGill Stadium, hired Don Matthews as coach, and within a few years every game was a sellout and the Alouettes were the heroes of Montrealers.
Today they came full circle and for the game against the Toronto Argonauts they had to go back to the Olympic Stadium to accomodate the crowd of 50,000 fans. And a really great touch was to have the Montreal Symphony Orchestra at the Stadium to play a very inspirational arrangement of our National Anthem.
Vive Montreal !
